BO GAINES - 4 MINUTE READ

SHOULD YOU HIRE A WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER?

Is it for you or just a passing fad?

Should you hire a wedding videographer?

Isn’t a photographer enough?

Will you ever watch it after the first time?

These are fair questions, and of course it makes sense for me to say that you need a wedding videographer. But the truth is, it isn’t for everyone. For some people photos are enough. For others, their buddy with an iPhone snapping pictures is enough. And then for some people, like myself and like everyone I’ve worked with in the past, photos weren’t enough.

So what makes the difference? How do you know which one you are?

The best way I know how to explain it, is from feedback I’ve had from past clients:

One told me “It’s amazing that after 4 years I can go back and watch my wedding video and it still makes me cry.”

Another said “Knowing how good the video is, I would have a friend take photos so I could use all the budget on a videographer.”

Another said “The photos make me smile, but the video makes me cry.”

Now here is my opinion on wedding videos:

Videos have a way of telling a story with the footage and music that photos just can’t replicate. Your wedding day will be preserved for you to watch over and over, and some day show you kids and even grandkids. It really is a priceless gift to have a video like this. I have had people tell me they regret not hiring a videographer for their wedding, a day they can’t get back, but never have I had anyone tell me they regret having their video.

So is a wedding video for you? Maybe, maybe not. It was for me.

"THE PHOTOS MAKE ME SMILE, BUT THE VIDEO MAKES ME CRY."
